WHEN TO HAVE YOUR OLD TANK REPLACED

If you have an old steel oil tank that is showing signs of age, rusting or even starting to leak, or may be have an old plastic oil tank, it is always best to regularly keep a check on them.

HOW TO CHECK FOR SIGNS OF AGEING

Make sure that there is no whitening, cracking or splits appearing as this could in time lead to it leaking, or when checking you may also find there is a bulging or deformation of the tank.

THE PROCEDURE

Once we've assessed your situation and selected the tank we'll book in your installation, here's what to expect:

We'll notify you 48 hours in advance with the time we'll arrive.

Once we're on site we'll assess the condition of your tank and oil, the replacement process begins with emptying your old tank.

Usable heating oil will be pumped into our holding tank, contaminated oil and water will be removed for disposal.

We can then disconnect and remove the tank for decommissioning, we offer the option for us to take away and dispose of your old oil tank.

If required, a paving slab base, a concrete base or block piers can be installed to accommodate the replacement tank.

We can also supply and install fire protection for the tank, should it be required to meet the current regulations.

Your new tank will then be positioned, connected up and clean fuel pumped into it.

The fuel system will be primed and we will make sure that your boiler is running again.

HOW OFTEN DOES A TANK NEED TO BE REPLACED

The earliest you should need to replace your old oil tank is about 5 years after installation. Often it is quite a lot longer than this, much of it depends on the initial investment in the tank and how much it's used.

  HOW MUCH DOES INSTALLATION COST

This depends on the current situation, type of tank being removed and installed, whether the oil feed line needs replacing what legal requirements the task entails. A guide price for installation fees is anything from £250 to £2,000. You individual situation can be assessed for a FREE, no obligation quote.

What our customers say...

We used CT to install a new oil tank to replace our old one. They went along on a Sunday to take a look and let us know what was required.

They quoted us the cost for the installation, which was cheaper than we were able to find elsewhere and was the price we paid. Throughout the process we were kept informed every step of the way and in the end the installation was finished to a high standard of workmanship.

I would happily recommend them to anyone needing a new oil tank. Excellent service.

The service we received from Clark (CT Tanks) when removing our old heating oil tank and advising, sourcing, and installing the replacement one has been first class and could not be faulted.

He provided thoughtful and informed advice on what replacement tank would best suit our needs and where it would need to be sited in order to conform to regulations.

All tasks were dealt with in a calm, efficient manner and the site left clean & clear. The costs involved were all very reasonable and within the quote.

I would not hesitate to recommend Clark & CT Tanks to anyone looking for a tradesman to undertake work on a heating oil tank installation.

Clark quoted super quickly (very clear and easy to understand quote and very competitive), arranged a day the following week to install our replacement 1200 litre Oil tank with extension to the plinth.

The actual installation took about 3 hours - there was no mess and he took all the old materials and tank away. Super quick and clean, I would recommend Clark to anyone for this service.
