Our Oil Tanks

With over 25 years experience in oil tank installation of all shapes and sizes our team are perfectly placed to assist you in finding the right oil tank to replace your existing one and provide a one-stop shop to resolving your current situation.

There are a large range of tanks that can be fitted, manufactured by Deso, Atlas, Titan and Kingspan, including single skin and bunded.  Sometimes due to OFTEC Building Regulations it is necessary to have a bunded tank fitted, although these are generally more expensive, bunded tanks are more secure as it is a tank within a tank, providing a containment of fuel in case of any leaks or overfills.

Frequently asked questions

How far away from the house does an oil tank have to be?

The tank itself can be located up to a distance of 30 – 40 metres from wherever the tanker is likely to fill from.  It also has to be 1.8 metres from any windows/doors/flues or eaves of a non-fire rated building, although it still has to comply with the 1.8 metre regulation if there is eaves of windows or doors  in a fire rated wall, I.e. brick wall!  The tank has to be a minimum of 300mm from a fire rated wall.

Can I install my own oil tank?

Although some people choose to fit their own oil tanks, but this isn’t something that we would advise as it couldn’t be signed off by an OFTEC registered engineer and possibly wouldn’t comply with building regulations, you would find that this could invalidate most house insurances as there would be no correct paperwork.

How much does it cost to fit an oil tank?

All oil tanks vary in price whether they are plastic, steel, single or bunded ranging from £600 to £6000 but for an example a 1000 litre bunded oil tank is approximately £1200 to purchase,  installation costs vary from about £400 to £2000.

What are the rules for installing an oil tank?

The base has to extend 300mm beyond the tank on all sides, it has to stand 1.8 metres from eaves, windows, doors or flues of a non-fire rated building, this includes sheds, garages and greenhouses.  You can be 300mm of a fire-rated wall, but you still have to comply with the 1.8 metre rule for eaves, windows or doors and flues.  It also has to stand 760mm from a non-fire rated boundary fence and 300mm from a fire rated boundary, i.e. brick..

Efficiently fitted my excellent new 1000 Lt oil tank with a 12-year warranty, in only a few hours on a Sunday as well!

All the installation was done courteously and professionally and payment was simplicity itself. Combined with excellent price and service, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend CT-Tanks as an installer.

PaulA-792, Yell.com

I used CT Tanks to replace a cracked oil tank and they were by far the most reasonable on price but that is not the only reason I decided to use them. Clarke was extremely helpful explaining oil tank regulations to me and I found him to be very honest as well. His workmanship is second to none, he arrived when he said he would and he removed my oil tank and installed the new one all within an hour. I would highly recommend CT Tanks.

Julie Byrne, Yell.com

Trying to find a competent person to swap and oil tank over can't be difficult, can it? Well 9 phone calls and nobody turned up. I found Clarke on the internet and contacted him, he replied in 10 minutes. I explained the problem I had and sent him photos so he could see what was required. A good price was forthcoming and we arranged a date. He not only collect the new tank for me but removed the old tank over a wall (without any damage) and installed the new one without any drama at all. I would not hesitate to recommend CT Tanks to supply or fit a tank for me again and have stored his number for next time. Many thanks for an excellent service, as nothing was too much trouble for him or his wonderful wife.
